Children become strong in their physical learning and wellbeing
Early childhood educators can encourage children to move their bodies and enjoy physical-activity. The EYLF recommends children combine gross motor and fine motor movements “to achieve increasingly complex patterns of activity”.
Learning experiences
- The EYLF recommends using “dramatic arts and role-play for supporting children’s exploration of feelings and opinions”. Children can achieve the same through music and visual arts.
- Provide opportunities for risky play so children can test and assess the capabilities of their bodies. Start by introducing large, loose parts and building materials like ladders.
- Survey your children to find out which sports their families play or follow. Start an on-going project about sport. Play other games with rules that involve physical movement.
